Learn Graphic Design Skills

Learn the essentials of setting up your workspace and creating documents. How to use artboards and the pasteboard. Learn the primary tools for creating vector artwork, colors, gradients and typography. Practice using the pen tool, the pencil tool, layers, pathfinder, shapebuilder and so much more.

You'll be introduced to the Photoshop® workspace, essential tools, photo editing basics, how to work with layers, layer blend modes, healing brush tools, leveraging generative AI features ethically to save time (not to replace creativity), round trip editing with Illustrator® and InDesign® and more.

A brief look at the power of InDesign and what it is built for. How to bring assets from other apps into your InDesign® documents, working with master pages and paragraph styles, threaded text frames, text wrapping and output for print jobs.

A brief look at how Affinity® studio apps–Vector, Pixel and Layout can work for you in creating quality graphics and projects for free! The skills you learn in the previous classes are applicable as you learn how to follow similar workflows on a more affordable platform.

Students will arrive at 8:30AM. You'll get settled in and enjoy coffee (good coffee!) and light morning snacks as we prepare for the first session to begin at 9:00AM.

Sessions will proceed throughout the day with some breaks and skills practice times sprinkled in.
Lunch will be provided on site.
Group sessions will end at 4:00PM and students may work on skills practice or request one-on-one coaching on specific questions until 5:00PM.

Drinks and light refreshments will be available throughout both days. Students will be responsible for their own breakfast and supper and any lodging requirements if coming from out of the area.
